Public doctors in Nigeria today August 7th called off their 5-week
old strike to help with the fight against the outbreak of the deadly
Ebola virus in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by
the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, the doctors listed “the incursion
of Ebola into Nigeria” as a main reason for suspending the strike.
Just
yesterday, the Lagos state government through the Commissioner for
Health, Dr Idris Jide, had appealed to striking doctors to call of their
strike so as to help contain the spread of the virus.
